Glenfield's housing tells you what to expect from its plumbing. Glenfield is a big, established residential suburb in the middle of the North Shore, built mostly from the 1960s onwards on ridges and gullies above the upper harbour and the Wairau Valley. It is centred on Glenfield Mall and Glenfield Road, with parks and bush reserves in the gullies. Many original homes are being replaced or subdivided, so older houses and new townhouses now sit side by side.
