Emergency Plumber Manurewa

Manurewa's housing is mostly a generation younger than Ōtāhuhu's, and the plumbing reflects that. Many homes were built in the 1960s and 1970s with copper water pipe rather than galvanised, and drains in earthenware or early plastics. Fifty or sixty years on, the copper is thinning and developing pinholes, particularly at bends and where it passes through the floor, and the drains are cracked or displaced at the joints. Cylinders in these homes are often well past their expected life, and relief valves that drip constantly or elements that burn out are common calls. As in much of South Auckland, subdivision has put extra homes on older sections, often sharing a private drain, so a blockage in one line can affect two or three families at once. Toilets see heavy use in larger households, and pan connectors and cistern valves wear out as a result. Manurewa is reached along the Southern Motorway and Great South Road, and when you ring you are given an honest arrival time based on where the plumber is.

Manurewa grew rapidly in the 1960s and 1970s as one of South Auckland's big family suburbs, with Southmall on Great South Road as its main shopping centre and the Auckland Botanic Gardens and Totara Park on its eastern side. Much of the housing is from that growth period, now joined by infill and newer homes. The Southern Motorway and the rail line run through it.
